Oyster takes part in site blessing at Central Park
19 May 2022 / 2 min readOur CEO, Mark Schiele, was honoured to be part of the delegation attending the Auckland Integrated Rail Management Centre ground breaking ceremony and dawn blessing provided by Waikato Tainui as mana whenua.
Held at Central Park on Wednesday 18 May, the blessing was led by Matua Martin Cooper.
The Auckland Integrated Rail Management Centre (to be established in the new ‘Building 11’ at Central Park) is part of KiwiRail’s programme of work to improve Auckland Metro’s transport services. This will enable aspects of the Auckland rail network to be managed locally improving coordination, resilience and reliability.
We are proud to partner with KiwiRail, Auckland Transport and Auckland One Rail on this venture. We would like to acknowledge Robert Gibbes, KiwiRail’s Chief Operating Officer for Construction and Delivery, Darek Koper, Acting Group Manager at Auckland Transport, and Paul D’Alessio, the CEO of Auckland One Rail who also attended.
At Oyster, we see ourselves as transforming property together with our partners and occupiers. It has also been a true partnership. From day one, we have worked together to deliver a truly integrated approach and designed the building to meet the needs of those who will work here.
Building 11 is a big part of the continuing evolution of Central Park following the recent completion of ‘The Green’ Food & Beverage Precinct. In the future, there will also be a hotel, apartments and townhouses here, making it a thriving destination.
As a company, we believe this is the way for the future. It underpins long-term value. It focusses a building on the human need it is filling – which in this case is an important one in providing quality public transport for the future of a city that we can see spreading and growing out all around us.
We look forward to Building 11 being a safe home for all who work in it – and a productive one in providing a vital service for our region.
